Root canal therapy, also known as endodontics, is a method used to salvage an infected tooth or in cases where the pulp has become damaged due to injury or advanced gum disease.

What can I expect from root canal treatment?

Root canal therapy is an effective way to prevent a tooth from being extracted. In many cases, there may be no symptoms when your dental pulp becomes infected, which is why general check-ups are so important, allowing any issues to be flagged up early. Your dentist here at Maylands Practice will fill the chambers of the root needing treatment which will prevent further infection. A sealant is then applied to stop bacteria entering the root. You will then be provided with a restoration, such as a crown or filling, to cover the tooth.
